Its a rifle. Used by british riflemen. Not a musket. They were sharpshooters the barrel is groved and bullets had leather patches for better accuracy. Range 250 meters.

You guys wanna make a million bucks? Make a firearms company that reproduces firearms from Napeleonic era through WWII w/a sign like RR on the butt for repro rifle, and sell them to the public. Look at all the people who want old weapons, but can't afford them? I want a K98 and the cheapest one I can find is like $3000......it's ridiculous.

K98 :p that was a German weapon from WWII isnt it? It cost a lott because it is original i think. Thats why it is expansive. The musket i want to buy is a "replica". And cost not a lott i hope. between the 100 or 150 euro? I hope..............

Well, apparently you just haven't looked hard enough. :D $210 is a lot cheaper than $3000. Last Fall I got into military surplus rifles and discovered a multitude of dealers online. I got what's called a C&R FFL, which stands for curio and relic federal firearms license, from the ATF which allows me to purchase firearms deemed collectible and have them shipped directly to my door.

If you don't have one of these licenses, you have to get the weapon transferred through a gunshop and they charge around $20 for the service. Go to www.surplusrifle.com to find out about other military firearms. There are good forums there as well as at http://p077.ezboard.com/bparallaxscurio ... armsforums. I personally have a British Lee-Enfield and two Russian Mosin Nagants. I'm looking into K98s. Collecting historical firearms has become a hobby of sorts for me.

EDIT: I just noticed that you hail from southern California... that may make things difficult.

Gracias Anteaus, and being from Southern Cal isn't an issue with something like this. It's if I'm trying to get a full-auto rifle or machine gun, etc. etc. There shouldn't be a problem with this. Thanks again.
