Campaign AI

Post by ToXiC_WoLf »

This is sad, I've done went and forgot how to spell campaign. Anyway, do you think the campaing AI will be smart and conquer other nations, or just sit their in their borders until you come and conquer them? Will they be smart like a player and industrialize and militarize and use diplomacy wisely to conquer surrounding nations? Will they move their troops on the world map effectively to outmanuevor your forces? Or will they be like TW and go straight for you city so you can outmanevour them and destroy their army and take over a province in one fell swoop? I hope they build their country and attack agressively, and use intelligence on the campaign map moving armies. Like the only challenging mode in Rome was on Hard, but then the AI had unlimited resources, and you had none...It was only hard because it was weighted against you in terms of cash.

I really hope that the managment system and cpu AI will be good. Anyway - there is no "hero travelling" like in Rome - its rather like in Medieval TW where u drag ur troopers in ur province and drop them in the enemy lands so outmaneuvoring enemy would be rather limited. The diplomacy seems to be well developed and if computer will use its options the game could be very interesting ;]

I hope the Campaing AI will be good. Fore example; A small country will not attack france, a bigger country. Because a small country can not win a war against a big one.(in the terms of the amount of soldiers) And if a small country is in war with a big one, the small country will defend in stead of attacking.

A potential declaration of war doesn't have to be a side-by-side comparison of Country-to-Country power. It is as much how sizable and avalible a force the potential foe can bring to bear in a new front in the immediate time frame. Furthermore, a Country of any size, if significantly provoked will, no MUST fight to defend it's rights, and if a insult or threat is outrageous enough, a declaration of war (regardless of the remoteness of victory) MUST be made.

For example: With the British fleet highly engaged with blockage duty against the French naval ports, with what remaining frigates and sloops avalible spread worldwide protecting British merchant economic interests overseas, the time was ripe for the new founded fleet of American Heavy frigates to make a statement of their ability to fight to defend their rights. I'm a Canadian, but even I think the British Admiralty was aggressively high-handed in their treatment of American military and trade fleets operating in international waters. And in an age of honor, the act of the Leopard (50) in firing directly upon the Chesapeake (36) was an outrage that went far beyond four sailors (and of questionable British origins.) But what with a miniscule US fleet, the British thought the idea of them defending their soveirgnty at sea inconcievable. What the Americans knew, the British discovered in a stinging string of upseting defeats: That the small fleet of American frigates were HEAVY (with signifcant advantage in broadside weight) and were handled with a skill that would have done the flagship of the British fleet credit.

Victory isn't the only goal. Sometimes countries fought for respect. Size wasn't the only consideration. The ability to achieve your strategic goals was as important.
