Nvidia problems
I purchased Imperial Glory yesterday but am experiencing technical difficutlies during the land battles. When units engage in combat they turn into ugly, mulitcolored, angular shapes. I am using the NVidia GeForce 4 448 Go on my laptop computer, for which there do not appear to be drivers available past January of 2004. Is there a solution, or is it time to return the game?
Hmm you could try to have a look at the website of the brand of your laptop (e.g. Acer, Compaq) to see or they have other drivers or look onto nvdia itself.

I always thought there drivers worked on all the cards so I'd give it a go.

I have, and the drivers on the Nvidia website are for the desktop version, rather than the notebook. On the HP site, the newest driver they have is from January of 2004, which I have installed with no change in the game.
In the system requirements listed on an online source, it says that notebook video cards are not supported, so I assume even though my computer meets the requirements listed on the box, I have wasted forty dollars. If a patch to fix this problem is not released within the next twenty days or so, I'm going to have to return it while I still can.

Is there actually a difference between a built in Nvidia card for a laptop and you can buy of the shelf ?
EG is your card available off the self for desktop PCs ?
If so, then the desktop drivers may actually work.
Its risky but you might get the game to work properly.

Sadly, the drivers will not install. When I run the installation program it tells me that it can't find the appropriate software (which is odd in itself), and then closes. I think I'm going to go return the game today, since I have no guarantee that Eidos will release a patch that will fix the problem within the time window I have in which to return it. Thanks for your help, though. I appreciate it.
What about those tuned drivers for Nvidia ?
I forget their names but theres a group that releases them and the idea is they maximise the performance of the Nvidia cards.
Anybody got a link for them ?
PErhaps Edcope may get lucky.

Well, am I glad I didn't make it to the mall today! Thank y'all very much- that omega driver did the trick!
On a side note, my keyboard no longer controls the camera during battles- is this a problem with the driver or is there something simple I've messed up here?
Again- thank you for your assistance; it has been far more than I have gotten from Eidos.

Glad they worked for you.
It is usually recommended that you find a set of drivers that work on everything and stick to them. So if the current drivers cause problems you may want to see if you can find older omega drivers.
PS thanks M, i just couldnt remember the name

The video drivers should not effect the keyboard at all.
Unless the graphics card and the keyboard share the same resources, but XP is supposed to have cured those kinds of problems.

Some optical mice (most noticably the Microsoft ones), when they start to break cause that effect. Its intermitent and can lock up your computer at any time. Mouse pointer movement becomes jerky and the keyboard stops working.
