North Africa

Look at "war on land" section in American IG Site - how do you think what does it mean that besides 5 empires there appeared "north africa" ?

Maybe it is a large country with a small army. that's why it is not one of the "great Empires". I am thinking North Africa is Egypte. In Cossaks II there is also Egypte. :)

I think it means that although Africa will not be a playble faction of the conflict as such, they will still have their unique combat forces represented in the game as a potential adversaries in terms of unit types and graphical depictions. I'm guessing (wildly, perhaps) they they will have unique ship types (lanteen pirates or slave gunboats from Algiers) and unique units (Mameluke camel calvary) that the major five Empires will not use as core regimental units.

Maybe because they are more important?

I confess I know less about Poland or Batavian than I do about the Mediterranean theatre and that, mainly from a primarily Naval aspect.

At the risk of flaunting my ignorance, may I ask what unique types of units would have been used by those cultures, and how significant an influence they had (or could potentially have had) upon the course and outcome of the wars?

Napoleons exploits in North Africa are extremely well studied, as were several significant Naval actions near (Battle of Cape St Vincent, Battle of Trafalgar) and in (The Battle of the Nile) the Mediterranean proper.

I'm not sure what truly seperates the critical historical elements from the more oblique, but with a game of this size and scale, some details might have been sacrificed in one of the games element to make room for the others.

Poles was the last who served Napoleon in his war and the only one who didn't betray him ^^
Anyway, without polish support it is very possible that Napoleon would have died while crossing Berezyna. There is also battle for Raszyn with austrians in 1809 which was great support for Napoleon who was fighing in the meantime in Wagram.
