Commandos 2 & 3 soundtrack covers!

Post by iakovos »

After many many hours and days of search I finally managed to find a site which has front and back covers (plus cd covers) for both commandos 2 & 3 soundtracks. The site also has some samples of the first three tracks in each game.

Is it ok to post links here for them? I don't recall if this is considered legal or illegal.

Now all we need to do is find someone who can pinpoint each track to each sound track of the game itself.

Cheers,
Iakovos :)

If you can post your list of renaming files here as well.
I am very interested in knowing exactly the tracks too.

The only site I have found that has them (as it says in their original page) is this one:
http://www.rosebudbandasonora.com/Rosebud.htm

Do mind that this is a Spanish site, so I have no idea what it actually suggests on ordering these soundtracks.

I started negotiations with someone to get the soundtracks for C2, C3 and Praetorians. Can I rely on you to trade soundtracks with me if my negotiations fail?

Cheers,

Ok this is very nice, but if we ripped them 3 years ago, aren't we supposed to have it all already?
Is there anything new? And if now, I'd appreciate if any of you wrote the names and equivalents here, as Iakovos suggested already :)

Its pretty simple for the ingame files but not to pinpoint exactly the ingame tracks to the soundtrack tracks.
We had in the FAQ of the commandos ng a catalogue for the mission music tracks of C2, which I used, but not of C3 yet (I created one for myself but I am not sure about it 100%),

What I was and am actually looking for are the 3 soundtracks for these 3 games. I am certain that the game soundtracks: a) contain more music or
b) different music not contained or c) not used or d) used differently (like
in video/game sequences) in the games.

This is something I already have verified by listening to the tracks of the Praetorians game and the samples on the site which has the covers for them.

I do believe that is not possible to actually find an accurate track by track list. We are talking about ingame music and a game soundtrack. Two different things.

For example for Praetorians there are 8 music tracks (with .ogg extension)
which amount to a total of 39 minutes of music. The Praetorians game soundtrack lists 20 music tracks with a total of around 40 minutes, but having heard the samples, the music is different.

Another example:

The commandos 3 listing of tracks is this one:

Commandos 3
Music composed, arranged and directed by Mateo Pascual
Duration: 47'54''
1. Uncommon Men - Commandos III Main Theme 2:04
2. The Edge of Chaos 1:06
3. Into the Shadows 3:17
4. Dead Calm 2:43
5. Der Wintersturm 1:29
6. Preparing for Battle 2:36
7. The Sparrow and the Eagle 1:33
8. Flying on the Water (reprise) 1:42
9. The Dirty Half Dozen 2:04
10. Darkness Be Your Ally 1:31
11. Sweet Steel 0:43
12. Beneath the Waves 1:14
13. Unseen 1:50
14. At the Docks 1:23
15. The Fight for Stalingrad 1:46
16. The Station 1:16
17. Railway to Victory 1:27
18. Preparations 1:15
19. The Parade of War 1:37
20. Defeated 0:18
21. Inside 1:18
22. The End of Innocence 1:12
23. Besieged 1:20
24. Debriefing 0:44
25. Sweet Steel (reprise) 1:17
26. Road to War (Commandos 2 Suite) 9:20

Now, in the folder sonidos of the C3 data.pck file there are listed 55 track
files.
In the folder sonidos of the C2 data2.pck file are listed 39 tracks.
In the folder musica of CBEL and CBTCOD are listed 10 & 6 tracks.
Plus 3 extra music files from various trailers (2 for C2, 1 for C3) I
discovered in various sites, we have a total of 113 tracks or:

113 tracks in playlist, average track length: 0:57
Playlist length: 1 hour 48 minutes 44 seconds

Btw, this is a brief listing of my choice, as all the tracks are listed
alphabetically.
I did try to correspond the music of its track to the appropriate mission.
But as you see it is hard to correspond the game music tracks to the ingame music tracks. That is without the game soundtracks which hopefully I'll receive sometime in the near future by someone.

Cheers,
Iakovos:)

Dear David,

since my original negotiations have come to a annoying halt, may I ask an e-mail address of you, in order to send you my list of soundtracks and hopefully we both move on to a trade between us?

Thanks in advance,
Iakovos:)
